Brass Refrain brings together olive, moss, bronze and copper saxophones and other brass instruments, layered over cream pages of notation. The motifs overlap in a dense, painterly rhythm: a musician appears near the center, while instrument bells, keys and curved necks continue towards the edges. The drawstring bag has a simple rectangular shape, black drawstring closure and narrow shoulder straps that let it sit as a backpack. Polyester gives the surface a smooth, lightly structured feel, while twin cotton handles add another way to carry it. It reads like a portable pocket of late-night music.
