Yuan Whirls begins in a star-flecked black ground, where cyan, violet, fuchsia, lime, orange and molten yellow ribbons coil into fluid, hand-painted currents. The larger strokes sweep down the front and gather around the hem, while smaller curls and specks fill the spaces between them, giving the skirt a sense of motion even at rest. The skater skirt falls to mid-thigh in a smooth fabric with a softly flared shape and elastic waistband. It moves lightly as you walk, like a slice of midnight space caught in rotation.
