Tanning Twirl begins with liquid ribbons in electric indigo, violet, teal, gold and coral, their glossy loops sweeping and folding across the front in a dense, continuous field. The dark ground lets the jewel tones hold their shape, while the brushlike curves give the shorts a sense of constant motion. The silhouette is relaxed and straight through the leg, with a drawcord waistband, side pockets and a flap-covered rear pocket. Polyester with spandex gives the fabric a little stretch; quick-drying fabric suits time by the water. The result is a vivid whirl from waist to hem.
