Monochrome Strata begins with rows of loosely squared ovals, their black, white and smoky-gray contour lines shifting between fluid marbling and graphic geometry. The bands travel horizontally across the pencil skirt, with smaller and larger forms repeating from the waist to the gently curved hem. Cut close to the body with a mid-waist fit, it has a soft polyester-and-spandex feel and a little stretch through the silhouette. The monochrome rhythm gives a tailored shape the presence of a moving abstract drawing, like waves held in place for a moment.
