Menzel's Maelstrom turns deep charcoal into a nocturnal swirl of amber, turquoise, acid green and icy blue. Liquid ribbons and painted, dreamlike figures travel the full length, while luminous orange and blue orbs appear at intervals along each sock; the black ribbed cuffs keep the composition grounded.
