Beyond the Canvas is a dense rush of acid yellow, hot magenta, cobalt blue and ink-black marks: angular glyphs, looping contours and hand-painted fragments overlap from the scoop neckline through the fitted bodice and down the flared skirt, with blue and magenta flashes breaking through the black. The sleeveless skater dress has a smooth, elastic fabric, an elastic waistline and a mid-thigh hem. Its close upper shape gives the artwork structure before the skirt loosens into movement, like a lively wall of color in motion.
